Image of Resin Driveways

Are you looking to having a durable, permeable, multi-layer driveway or a non-permeable, single stone layer patio? Resin driveways are the way forward. They are not just durable; they are the best in controlling water runoff and flooding.

You might looking for something new or looking for a makeover of your driveway or patio. Resin bound driveways have never been as popular as they are now. When you want to install, a common suggestion you will get from your architect or your contractor is for you to have a driveway that is compliant with the sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). Resin bound driveways are just that.

Resin bound driveways and resin bonded driveways is what we specialise in.

But why choose either a bound or bonded driveway?

Resin bonded driveways are incredibly cheap as compared to other alternatives. If you install on a pre-existing base, the price in tremendously reduced. You van estimate a cost of between £60-£80 per square meter on installation except for steps, walls and other special surfaces.

Resin bound driveways are more expensive £90-£120 than its cheaper resin bonded cousin due to the sub-base that needs to be installed prior to the resin bound aggregate being laid on the top, this however is a longer lasting install and if done properly will last many many years and is well worth the extra cost.

Here are areas where resin excels over other driveways.

  • Low Maintenance
  • Extremely Durable
  • Incredible Longevity
  • Fantastic Colours and Styles
  • Quick Installation
  • Porous (Bound Only)
  • Comparable to Block Paving and Pattern Imprinted In Price

Please bear in mind the above examples when asking for a quote, this will save both the installation company and you time, many people just do not realise the cost of having a resin driveway installed, if you are getting quotes a lot lower than those stated above you will more than likely end up with a sub-standard product and a company that you cannot get hold of again, cheap is not always the best option when it comes to a resin driveway.

Will My Driveway Look Good

Nobody mentions resin aggregate and fails to mention its beauty. Not only do resin bound driveways look naturally attractive after installation, but also you have an scope to play around with your creative side. You can mix and mash in different colours or have different shapes that fit perfectly together.

How Long Do Resin Driveways Take to Install

Because it can be installed over the existing surface if suitable, resin bound overlay driveways can be installed in a few days. That would be convenient, right? Definitely! It saves on cumulative costs and minor inconveniences.

How Long Will My Driveway Last

With proper installation resin will give you service in good condition for a very long time. How long is a long time you ask? Well, longer than ‘Eastenders’ has been showing on TV. Yes, that’s a very long time.

Do They Take Much Looking After

The whole point of having a resin style driveway, patio or path is not only the incredible look you get but also the least amount of work needed to keep it looking good… With this said all you need is a hose pipe and a stiff brush or in the UK an rainy day and some wind, no moss, no weeds ( only surface weeds dropped by birds, or blown by wind )

Is Resin Slippery When Wet

The resin is mixed with the aggregate stone and smoothed over when laid, powdered glass is then scattered over the wet resin to create a non slip surface although it is of a rough texture it can become slippery when icy, much like any other surface really.

Will My Driveway Crack

If the base material is unsuitable you will find cracks in your driveway. It is best to consult a professional about this to get advice on a way forward before some greedy contractor cuts shortcuts and does a lousy job.

How Thick Is A Resin Driveway

This really depends on whether you have a resin bonded driveway or a resin bound driveway, bonded goes on top of a existing surface so it is impossible to know the thickness of the existing driveway, resin bound driveways should be between 18mm and 20mm laid on top of 50mm of tarmac which is on top of 150mm of type 1 hardcore.

Are They Permeable?

Yes and no, Resin bonded is not as resin is laid on top of an existing surface which then creates a barrier beween the top aggregate and the existing surface, resin bound is mixed with the aggregate and creates air pockets for water to seep through.

Will My Driveway Fade

Some resin bound driveways seem to fade in colour. Fading is due to using of colours that are not UV stabilised, all of our driveways are installed using UV stable resin.

With all that said, it is without a doubt that resin offers a more reliable option than any other product you can get in the market. When you look at it from the cost perspective, quality perspective or the beauty and aesthetics perspective, it stands out from all the rest.
